Who is responsible for your data

SalarySutra is operated by VARNSSH INFO OPC PVT LTD, the "Data Fiduciary" under the DPDP Act — the entity legally responsible for deciding how and why any personal data is processed on this site.

Calculator inputs never leave your browser

Every calculator on SalarySutra — your CTC, wages, service period, whatever you type in — is processed entirely client-side, in JavaScript running in your own browser. None of it is transmitted to, or stored on, our servers. We have no record of what you calculated, because that calculation never reaches us. This is the single most important fact on this page.

The specific data we do process

Everything below is the complete list — not an example, the whole thing. Each item has exactly one stated purpose.

• Your IP address, recorded automatically in our web server's access logs for every request. Purpose: detecting abuse (e.g. scraping, excessive requests) and diagnosing server errors. We do not use it to determine your location, build a profile, or track you across visits or other sites. Access logs are rotated automatically and kept for approximately 10 days, then deleted.
• Your browser/device user-agent string, recorded in the same access logs. Purpose: diagnosing browser-specific technical issues (e.g. a layout bug that only affects one browser). Not used for device fingerprinting or tracking. Same ~10-day retention as above.
• A theme cookie, set only when you click the light/dark toggle in the site header. Purpose: remembering that choice on your next visit. It stores only the word "light" or "dark" — nothing that identifies you. See the Cookie Policy for the full detail.

That's the entire list. We don't collect your name, email, or any other personal detail unless you choose to email us directly (see Contact) — in which case we use your message and reply-to address only to answer you, and don't add you to any list.

What we explicitly do not do

• No user accounts, sign-up, or login of any kind.
• No analytics or usage-tracking scripts of any kind (no Google Analytics, no Meta Pixel, nothing) as of this policy's date.
• No advertising, and no ad-network cookies or scripts, as of this policy's date.
• No third-party tracking pixels, no device fingerprinting, no cross-site profiling.
• We never sell, rent, or share your personal data with any third party.
• No cookies beyond the single first-party theme cookie described above.

Your rights under the DPDP Act

As a "Data Principal," you have the right to:

• Access a summary of the personal data we hold about you and how it's processed.
• Correct or erase personal data that's inaccurate or no longer needed.
• Withdraw consent at any time, for any processing that relies on it.
• Raise a grievance if you're unhappy with how we've handled your data or a request.
• Nominate someone else to exercise these rights on your behalf if you die or become incapacitated.

In practice, given how little we hold: if you want to know whether a specific log entry exists, or want it deleted before it rotates out naturally, email us and we'll act on it promptly.

How to exercise your rights, or raise a grievance

Contact Varun M at support@varnssh.com. We'll acknowledge your request and respond directly. VARNSSH INFO OPC PVT LTD is not a "Significant Data Fiduciary" under the Act (that designation applies to organisations processing data at a much larger scale or sensitivity), so a formal Data Protection Officer isn't statutorily required for us — the grievance contact above handles every request personally. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can escalate to the Data Protection Board of India once it is operational.

Where your data is stored

Our servers are hosted in India (AWS, Mumbai region). We don't transfer your data outside India as part of normal operation.

If this changes: analytics or advertising

We are not currently running Google Analytics, any other analytics service, or any advertising. Adding either — Google Analytics (GA4) to understand site usage, or display ads (e.g. Google AdSense) once the site has steady traffic — would mean third-party scripts and cookies that don't exist today, along with cookie-consent obligations we don't currently have to meet. Before either ships, this policy and the Cookie Policy must be updated first to name the specific service, what it collects, and how to opt out or consent — and a consent mechanism (e.g. a cookie banner) must be added if the service requires one. This is a standing rule for whoever ships that feature, not a promise about timing.

Changes to this policy

If how we handle data changes, we'll update this page and its "last updated" date below. Material changes (like adding analytics or ads) will be called out clearly, not buried in a routine edit.
